For a pleasant Sunday outing try Best Western Eden Resort in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania

It’s one of life’s simple pleasures; a ride in the country on a sunny day; a scenic route; a specific destination; and if it’s close to home then better still. It’s nice knowing that there are many places out there that do offer Sunday drivers a day well-spent but one of them, we’ve come to believe, is a step above all the others we’ve experienced and that’s the Eden Resort in Lancaster, PA.

Only about an hour away from most of us, Eden Resort is a very popular spot that has lots going for it besides the short-distance-drive factor. It’s a great place for family vacations, romantic getaways, special occasions such as weddings and showers, business conferences and a place to celebrate holidays. But the thing that gives it that special edge is its fantastic Sunday Brunch for which you need no season, no reason, no special time of year to experience. This Award-winning, Champagne Brunch is reason enough to take yourself there on any given Sunday for an outing with fine dining in mind.

Truth be known, I’m not a big fan of buffets. I’ve been disappointed too many times by all the hype and then the letdown that comes from just a so-so meal. Now I admit to having found one that tops all our past experiences, the best to date, actually.

The Brunch is held in the Eden Courtyard, a nicely appointed area with fresh table linens, twinkling lights extending from the ceiling, lots of greenery, live piano music and space enough to seat over 500 people comfortably. Large families, and there were many during our visit, were accommodated nicely at bigger tables. There were also tables for 2, 4, 6 and on. I didn’t count the number of stations throughout the room but there seemed to be at least 15 or more of them and so things moved along quite well. If there was a wait it wasn’t noticeable.

As for the Brunch itself, I have nothing but superlatives to describe the creativity, the presentation, the extent of the choices, the quality as well as the quantity of each and every offering, the friendly and attentive service, and a most reasonable cost. The only problem we encountered, if you can call it a problem, was deciding where to start, what not to miss, and how in heaven’s name can I even begin to eat all this? Still we managed!

The Brunch itself offers something to please every one from seniors whose appetites have  waned, to fussy eaters and finicky children. There are the usual suspects for breakfast. Choices include pancakes, French Toast, waffles; an omelet station; cold fish, shellfish; bagels and Cream Cheese, muffins, crepes, all kinds of breads and rolls; eggs any style, meats; cold salads. Dinner Entrees include Pastas that can be customized to your liking; Roasts of beef and pork; Seafood, fish; hot soups and salads; vegetables of all kinds. And oh, the desserts, they fill tables and include everything even to building your own sundaes! Suffice it to say, you’ll not leave wanting after experiencing this extravaganza!

If a visit interests you be sure to call well in advance for reservations. The Eden also has lots of reasonable packages for the upcoming holidays. Christmas, New Year’s Eve, winter getaways. You’ll find this information on their site, as well as information for summer vacations. Because it is such a popular place reservations should be made as soon as possible if you like what you see. The same holds true for the Sunday Brunch, especially around all the important holidays.

So if ever you’re looking for a pleasant, Sunday-drive experience, and you haven’t thought of it before, you may very well enjoy a trip out to Lancaster County and making the Best Western Eden Resort your destination. If ever you do go, be sure to look around before you leave and ask to see all the amenities the Resort offers.

The outdoor pool has recently been remodeled. Additions include larger play areas for the children, a basketball court, an outdoor pool table, a small putting green adjacent to the pool, and new water activities for the kiddies. Unlike most places, this pool stays open until sometime in October. The large indoor pool is open year round. There are several restaurants in the Resort to meet everyone’s pocketbook. Shopping is nearby as are all the familiar fast food chains. Local churches are also convenient to the Resort. Eden really has a lot to offer its guests. You might even find yourself putting it on your own must-see travel list.

The Best Western Eden Resort is located at 222 Eden Road, Lancaster, PA. Sunday Brunch is served from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm. Cost is $31.95 for adults and $28.95 for seniors. Mimosas and all non-alcoholic beverages are included in the price. For further information call 717-569-6444 or visit www.EdenResort.com
